Sony Xperia Z1 photos galore, official teaser video also released

Although Sony has been unable (or unwilling) to control the leaky faucet that’s brought us more Honami reports, unofficial pics and camera samples than I can count in the past few weeks, the upcoming high-end 5-inch phone continues to thrive in the spotlight.

In fact, I could go so far as to say the Xperia Z1 is currently being more heavily featured in the rumor mill than Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. For that we have to congratulate Sony on knowing how to boost the hype and still keep a thin veil of mystery surrounding the company’s next flagship device.

Then again, as a new set of unofficial Z1 pics comes our way today, plus an official teaser video, one has to wonder exactly how much longer Sony plans to keep it up. We’ll see about that, but for the time being let’s focus on the intel on hand.

First up, we have a mockup of the beast next to the Xperia Z and Z Ultra, which appears to confirm once and for all the model number and market name of the new phone – L39h, Xperia Z1. It also pinpoints the display size at around 5 inches, though the horizontal bezels seem to be thicker than on the Xperia Z and therefore the Z1 is ever so slightly taller.

Second, a Chinese forum user has unearthed a series of high-quality snapshots starring the white flavor of the Z1. The phone parades its front, back, profile and every corner, looking exactly as you’d expect – chic, stylish, elegant and robust albeit a little easy to get lost in a crowd.

And finally, let’s see what that teaser video is all about. Well, its purpose is to tease, not advertise in the true sense of the word, so there’s no mention whatsoever of actual specs. The shots of the device are a tad superfluous and overly stylish, yet they do show off a number of key features… again: water resistance, G Lens snapper, dedicated camera shutter key, nifty side power button.

Now, do all these things boost your excitement for Sony’s “next big thing” or have you started losing interest in the overly long hype-building marketing campaign?
