Reports coming in from the supply chain suggest that production bottlenecks have been eliminated and that Retina iPad mini production is now steadily climbing.
A lot has already been said about the production issues faced by the Retina iPad mini. It was quitely released earlier this month and since then supply has been very tight. Initially Apple Retail Stores didn’t even have inventory in-store whereas major U.S. carriers are already backordered on cellular models. LCD burn-in issues with the Retina display panels manufactured by Sharp were said to be the culprit, which is why the tablet was in such short supply at launch.
The reports claim that bottlenecks in production of components for the Retina iPad mini have gradually been removed and now Apple has increased orders, in this month alone the company placed orders for four million units of the latest tablet. Production orders have already surpassed those for the first generation iPad mini, according to sources in the Taiwanese supply chain. If the gradual increase in production continues without any further problems, the tablet’s supply will definitely loosen up ahead of Q1, 2014.
It has already been predicted that supply is likely to get better during the lucrative holiday season, and with Apple expected to tap additional manufacturers to build the Retina iPad mini early next year with display panels from Samsung, the Retina iPad mini’s supply woes might soon come to an end.
