Acer announces touchscreen version of the C720 Chromebook for $299

Acer’s touchscreen Chromebook is available for $1000 less than what a Chromebook Pixel sells for.

If you ever wanted to try out a touchscreen Chromebook, the Acer C720P may be the best choice.

The manufacturer will start offering the Chromebook starting December for $299. While it may not have the same design flair as well as the hardware details of the Chromebook Pixel, it is available on a budget and gets the job done.

The C720P Chromebook retains the same design and chassis as Acer’s C720 Chromebook, although there are a few modifications under the hood. While the Haswell-based micro-architecture Celeron 2955U processor and the 11.6-inch screen with a*1366 x 768 resolution (now a touchscreen) are*still present, the internal storage has been increased to 32 GB from the 16 GB on the C720. The amount of RAM has been decreased from 4 GB to 2 GB. The Chromebook features one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, an SDcard slot and HDMI out.

Acer will start selling the C720P Chromebook directly from its site, as well as online retailers like Amazon and Best Buy from early December.
