iPhone 5S supply catches up with demand ahead of holiday shopping season

Ahead of the holiday shopping season in the U.S., iPhone 5S supply has finally begun to catch up with the intense demand.

The anxiously awaited iPhone 5S was launched a couple of months back and it sold out within days. This year Apple launched the new smartphone in a number of additional markets to rising demand, which meant that soon there was a demand supply gap. Supply constraints were particularly noticed in the U.S., where the online store starting displaying shipping estimates of a couple of weeks for the new smartphone. Retail stores too were sold out of all stock.

Only recently it was reported that shipping estimates of the iPhone 5S in the U.S. are now down to three to five business days, a significant improvement over the previous estimates of a few weeks.*Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray, surveyed 60 Apple Retail Stores in the U.S. and found that 90 percent of these stores have the latest iPhone in stock. When Munster surveyed the exact same stores two weeks ago, only 31 percent had the smartphone in stock, so the decrease in demand supply gap is evident.

This means that Apple now has significant iPhone 5S inventory to work with ahead of the upcoming holiday shopping season. With Thanksgiving and Black Friday just around the corner and Christmas not too far either, its safe to say that a lot of customers would be digging into their pocketbooks for a new iPhone 5S, or two.
