Finally, we get a chance to look at the pictures of the alleged Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch that is expected to hit the stage at IFA 2013 in less than three days – thanks to Venture Beat.
Samsung Galaxy Gear has seen its fair share of rumors. The only thing we haven’t seen until now is the alleged image of the prototype smart watch. It seems as if the wait is finally over; the folks at VentureBeat got their hands of what appears to be the prototype of Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch.
By the looks of it, the device features a display of almost 3-inch that might be considered bulky by many casual users. On the other hand, the device comes with Bluetooth that is used to connect with the phone along with WiFi that can be used to access the internet. There is no confirmation if the device can only connect with Galaxy series smartphone or all other Android devices as well.
The device also features a 4MP camera built into the strap along with tiny speakers near the clasp. The device is bulky but it seems as if it could be a good device for fitness fans. The device has a built-in heart monitor and includes the technology capable of tracking your steps and calorie-intake. As rumored before, the device is expected to last for 10 hours on a full charge, which is way too less as smartphones offer more battery time compared to this watch.
The device also features a power button on the side that can used to turn on/off the device. Interestingly, the device let users begin a call using the smart watch to a Samsung device and access call logs. Other features include voice commands for S Voice, Galaxy S smartphone integration, preloaded apps for social media, health tracking, social media integration and a lot more.
Samsung is popular for keeping secrets and shipping there devices with prototypes featuring fake exterior. So, the devices we see in the prototype may differ from the original piece but the device is expected to feature a display close to 3-inches even in the final version.
Samsung has scheduled an event on September 4 at IFA 2013 in Berlin where the company is expected to unveil this “groundbreaking” device along with Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Are you excited?
What do you think about the purported Galaxy Gear Smart watch? Don’t you think its way to bulky to be used as a daily watch?
