iOS 7 adoption rate in North America crosses 52 percent

In little over a week since it has been released, iOS 7 now accounts for more than 52 percent of the entire iOS web traffic originating from North America.

The latest iOS firmware update was released on September 18th. Originally unveiled back in June, iOS 7 comes with a plethora of new features as well as a completely new “flat” user interface. It is the biggest update ever made to the platform. Naturally, there was quite a bit of excitement surrounding it and the public was just waiting to get its hands on iOS 7. Incredible iOS 7 adoption rate has been witnessed particularly in North America, where the latest update now accounts for more than half of the entire web traffic.

The report comes from an advertising firm called Chitika, as compared to the previous report which came in merely five days ago, there has been a 20 percentage point increase in iOS 7 adoption in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to its public release, the beta builds of iOS 7 only accounted for less than one percent of the entire web traffic. Within the first 24 hours of launch, the adoption rate stood at 18 percent, and jumped to 32 percent on the second day.

iOS 7 is being adopted faster than its predecessor, iOS 6, which took nearly three days to pass the 30 percent milestone. iOS 7 is compatible with the iPhone 4 and all future models, iPad 2 and its successors and the fifth generation iPod touch.
