The city will not only be honoring Gundam but also one of their most beloved sons as*Inagi is the birthplace of famed mecha designer, Kunio Okawara, who is famed for designing various mobile suits for the Gundam franchise including the Zaku II and the RX-78-2 Gundam.

The proposed RX-78-2 Gundam and Zaku II statues will measure in at approximately three to four meters in height and will be erected at the*JR East Inagi-Naganuma Station. The statues are planned to become tourist spots to be visited by passengers arriving or leaving Inagi via train.
