Steve Jobs' home where Apple was founded is now a historic site

Apple’s origins can be traced back to a humble garage, where it first began. That particular house, where Steve Jobs lived, has now been designated as a historic site.

The story of how Apple was founded has been told in movies, books and taught in classrooms. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak were two of the co-founders of the company, which started operations from the garage of Jobs’ house. Since then the company has rapidly grown into the behemoth it is today, but that garages holds a lot of significant, seeing as how its the birthplace of such a successful company.*Therefore the Los Altos Historical Commission has unanimously voted to designate the property, located at 2066 Crist Drive, Los Altos, as a “historical resource.”

This house is currently owned by Steve Jobs’ sister, Patricia Jobs. Her approval wasn’t required by the commission to designate the property as a historic site, though Patricia can appeal to the city council if she so desires.*Given its status now, any requests to renovate or modify the property in the future must first be reviewed by the city council.

It was in this very same garage that Apple started off. It was right here where Steve Jobs, Wozniak, Patricia and a couple of other people worked on the first 100 Apple 1 computers. Apple received its first investments right here, and since then, it has never needed to operate out of a garage.
