Refreshed ASUS PadFone Infinity to hit local stores on Nov 9

The updated PadFone Infinity packs a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 SoC and features the new PixelMaster camera technology that lets you take high quality 3-megapixel shots by combining 3 pixels into 1.

In a bid to keep up with the current crop of flagship droids, ASUS has announced that their freshly updated PadFone Infinity will be available in Singapore from November 9.

Changes to the PadFone Infinity have been limited to being under the hood with ASUS electing to only bump up the hardware while preserving the exterior of the original PadFone Infinity. First off, the processor has been upgraded to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, up from the Snapdragon 600 that powered the first iteration. This should result in a significant boost in speed and graphics performance, especially when running computationally intensive applications like 3D games.

While retaining the same 13-megapixel shooter of its predecessor, the updated PadFone Infinity debuts the new PixelMaster camera technology, featuring a new Hi-Light mode that combines 3 pixels into 1, giving you smaller 3-megapixel but much cleaner images — similar to Nokia’s PureView oversampling technology. Other camera enhancements include a 12fps burst mode and an eye-popping 35fps “turbo burst” mode.

The rest of the specification sheet is identical to that of its predecessor, including the 5-inch 1080p IPS display, 2GB of RAM, LTE connectivity and a 2,400mAh battery. Software-wise, the PadFone refresh runs Android 4.2.2 out of the box with a slightly updated proprietary skin.

Pricing and availability*

The new ASUS PadFone Infinity will be available in Platinum White first from all authorized ASUS resellers and from mobile operators M1 and Starhub, with the Titanium Black variant following at a later date.

The PadFone Infinity will go for S$898 and S$998 for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively. The optional Infinity Station will set you back an additional S$328.
