Pre-order iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 starting today

The new tablets can now be pre-ordered from Apple.

On October 16th Apple conducted its second major event of this year to unveil new hardware. At last month’s event we were treated to new iPhones, the Apple Watch and Apple Pay. This time around tablets were on the agenda, as well as the iMac.

At the event Apple showed off the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. Both tablets now have Touch ID fingerprint scanners and will be available for the first time in gold finish. iPad mini 3 doesn’t get many hardware improvements, its running the same internals as its predecessor from last year.

iPad Air 2 on the other hand is running an A8X processor, an even faster version of the processor that powers iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It has a new 8 megapixel iSight camera on the back and an improved FaceTime HD camera up front. The tablet*itself is 18% thinner than the first iPad Air, which was already 20% thinner than the iPad before it.

In select markets which include US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi*configurations*only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau (Wi-Fi configurations*only), Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 can be pre-ordered starting today.
