Life-size Type 98 Ingram gets damaged by an unknown person

The Type 98 Ingram’s ongoing tour around Japan to promote the live action Patlabor series, The Next Generation Patlabor , *seems to have been temporarily halted at the moment as the life-size prop has been damaged by an unknown culprit who seems to have climbed the robot on the night of October 28, 2014.

Part of the robot’s left hand*was apparently damaged, and this has left the Type 98 Ingram lying on its back. It is usually standing upright like a human, however, because of the damage, the organizers were forced to leave the now-iconic movie prop on top of its transport truck.

Workers have also been seen doing maintenance on the Ingram, which has recently toured various parts of Japan like Chiba’s QVC Marine Field and Kichiouji. The damaged mecha is currently being serviced for maintenance in Ropponggi Hills Arena where it was displayed*as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival.

The person who damaged the gigantic movie prop seems to have drawn a lot of criticism in Japan as people took to witter to voice their condemnation of his/ her actions.Part 6 of the Next Generation Patlabor live action series was recently shown last November 29, while part 7 wuill be shown on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2015. A feature film has also been slated for next year.
