Acer launches Liquid S2, the first device with 4K video recording

Acer unveiled the six-inch Liquid S2 at the IFA today. The mobile features high-end hardware and comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 chip.


The six-inch Liquid S2 comes with a full-HD IPS display with a pixel density of 368 ppi. The screen is coated with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 800 chip powers the device that comes with a 2.2 GHz CPU and 4G LTE connectivity. The device comes with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which can be extended to 128 GB through the micro-SD card slot. The Liquid S2 features the Wi-Fi 802.11 ac standard. *The device can be used as a hotspot, to which six devices can be connected. *The S2 comes with a 3,300 mAh battery.

A feature that distinguishes the Liquid S2 is the 13MP camera that can shoot 4K videos. Samsung’s Galaxy Note III, which will be announced in two days’ time, is also said to have this feature. The Liquid S2’s rear camera also features BSI sensors and LED ring flash that aids in taking better images in low-light conditions. The device can also shoot full-HD videos at 60 fps and full panorama shots.

The Liquid S2 features Acer’s Float UI running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The custom UI adds a lot of tweaks that assist users when it comes to multitasking. Acer has mentioned that the Liquid S2 will be launching in Europe at the end of October. No word yet on whether the device will be made available in the U.S.
