The press render comes from now-retired leakster Evleaks*and*offers the clearest view yet at Google’s upcoming Motorola-made Nexus flagship.
The Nexus 6 hasn’t been too shy about appearing in leaks and rumors, but we haven’t gotten too many glimpses of the actual handset, except one that showed the handset in the wild presumably in a tester’s hands. Today, we’re getting a much clearer look at the device, thanks to a press render leaked by Evleaks, a day before the HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet is expected to be officially announced.
The press render shows a device quite similar to the one seen in Google’s new Android ads. It’s huge (unsurprising given the rumored 5.9-inch display), has thin bezels, and seems to have blue coloring on the back, hinting at the possibility of Motorola offering multiple colors to choose from, perhaps with the option to customize its looks through the*Moto Maker service. As expected, the phone in the render is also running Android L, with new icons and navigation buttons that fit in with everything we’ve seen of the next version of Android so far.
In terms of hardware, the Nexus 6 is expected to feature a Quad HD (2560×1440) display, a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and front-facing stereo speakers. It will be the first handset to launch running Android L; it’s unclear when Google will make it official, though it’s very probable it will go live alongside the Nexus 9, and become available for purchase sometime in November.
