Fastest iPhone rollout ever continues with 6/6 Plus spread to 36 more countries

The tally will be up to 69 countries and territories around the world by the end of the month, and over 115 by the year’s end.

Apple showed record-breaking form since before the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus started shipping, racking up four million pre-orders like it was nothing. Then, the 4.7/5.5-inch iOS duo actually went on sale, and in the space of just 72 hours, the two “biggest advancements in iPhone history” reached their first big milestone.

10 million was a huge box-office opening weekend result, but perhaps more important, the 6 and 6 Plus managed to outsell their predecessors despite snubbing two of the world’s biggest smartphone markets: China and India.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to tell the already mind-blowing numbers would further blossom once Cupertino included additional territories in the gradual worldwide launch. It certainly also helped that Apple carefully tracked the public’s interest in the two distinct iPhone models, acting then accordingly to fine-tune production.

Clocking in 20 million units sold was thus a piece of cake for the marketing and distribution juggernaut, and the long-term 200 mil goal is more a matter of when than if right now.

Another record is on the verge of being broken in the meantime, as Apple estimates an incredible 115 countries will be getting a piece of the iPhone 6 action while it’s still 2014. Wave three of global releases begins this Friday, October 17, with China and India at last, plus Monaco, and seven days later, Israel, Czech Republic, Greenland, Malta, Poland, Reunion Island, South Africa and the French West Indies will have joined the party.

Up next, Bahrain and Kuwait shall score the pricey, premium-looking but bend-prone iPhones on October 30, and the last Friday of October brings the two largest Apple handhelds to date in Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macau, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, South Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Thailand.

Where will Apple even find an extra 50 or so states to help it break the record for the fastest, widest ever iPhone rollout? We’re going to need a world map to answer that one… and a magnifying glass.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, yes, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are as big in China as we all expected. How big? Apparently, e-commerce company Jingdong registered north of 9 million preliminary reservations before official pre-orders were even live, and once that latter part happened, the nation’s three key service providers needed a measly six hours to cross 1 million iPhone pledges. Take that, iHaters and #bendgate believers.
