The Moto G might not make its way to brick and mortar stores in India after talks between Motorola and distributors fell through.
Sources familiar with the matter indicated to BGR India that talks between Motorola and local distributors weren’t fruitful, which means that it now has to resort to selling the device exclusively on Indian e-commerce sites. Flipkart, the largest e-commerce site in the country, is said to be one of the launch partners.
Motorola doesn’t have an official presence in the country anymore, and this might be a reason as to why major distributors like Ingram Micro and Redington were unwilling to make the device available in brick and mortar locations. The lack of any service centres in the country could also hurt Motorola when it comes to after-sales service of the Moto G.
Brazil and India have been touted as priority markets for Motorola, so it is likely that the manufacturer will establish a base in the country sooner rather than later. *Till that time, however, Google might offer a similar after-sales solution for the Moto G as it does for Nexus devices bought on the Play Store.
The Moto G price details haven’t been divulged yet, but it should be around the $210 mark. The device itself would be a dual-SIM offering, and will come in internal storage variations of 8 and 16 GB.
