The rumor mill isn’t done with the Nokia Normandy just yet, as the latest bout of leaked info brings more details to the fore on the Finns’ first Android handset.
Master leakster Evleaks has taken his usual route of Twitter to confirm that the Normandy will be launched as the Nokia X. Unlike what the listing of the device on a Vietnamese retailer website said, and as it was always expected, the Nokia X won’t have access to Google’s Play Store; instead, it will offer apps through Nokia’s own app store, while also allowing third-party app stores to be installed (or have them loaded by default), an approach Amazon and other companies forking Android have to take as well.
Evleaks has also revealed that the X will have six color options, though whether any of those colors will ever be purchasable depends on whether the device ever makes its way to market, chances of which continue to alternate between the realm of possibility and utter bleakness. Specs have once again been confirmed to include a 1GHz dual-core processor (likely a Snapdragon 200), 512MB of RAM, 4-inch WVGA (800×480) display, 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of storage and a microSD slot, a 1,500 mAh battery, and dual SIM support.
The Nokia X is expected to be unveiled at Nokia’s MWC event. Again, that’s provided it manages to get past Microsoft’s wrath, or all the hoopla around the device would have been for naught.
