Yet another Quad HD resolution-toting smartphone has surfaced online, thanks to controversial benchmarking tool AnTuTu, and Lenovo is now expected to officially debut the K7t “Kingdom” at February’s Mobile World Congress.
The race for who can deliver the first 2K (aka QHD, aka Quad HD) handheld to spec war-crazed tech aficionados worldwide is still on, as Vivo’s reach with the amazing Xplay 3S looks limited.
Meanwhile, several more potent OEMs, including HTC and Sony, may hold off on making the leap from Full HD to the next level, which opens the door for a surprise contender: Lenovo. Unless, of course, Samsung decides to bring the Galaxy S5 to light at MWC after all.
Either way, you can count on the imminent arrival of a Lenovo Vibe Z follow-up, known right now as the K7t or Kingdom. Hmm, that latter moniker has quite a ring to it, eh?
Spotted making the rounds at AnTuTu, the “Kingdom” is in a number of ways more of a Vibe Z rehash than a full-on sequel, packing for instance the exact same quad-core 2.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974 CPU (aka Snapdragon 800).
Then again, the display upgrade is anything but modest, as Vibe Z’s 1,920 x 1,080 pixel count leaps to an outstanding 2,560 x 1,440. Of course, with Kingdom’s screen size kept under wraps, it’s hard to anticipate the ppi and thus truly visualize the magnitude of the crispness and brightness enhancements.
In any case, even assuming this K7t is a gargantuan 6 or 6.5-incher, the pixel density shall completely blow the Vibe Z out of the water. Just please, Lenovo, don’t fit a smaller than 5-inch panel on the Kingdom, or else all those pixels will go to waste.

Not impressed by a resolution you’re not fully convinced has its real-life benefits? Then you should at least find solace in the 3 GB RAM, 13 MP main snapper, 5 MP front camera and pre-loaded Android 4.4 KitKat. Sure, the 16 GB on-board storage sounds skimpy, but it’s bound to be complemented by microSD support.
Now you just need two more things to turn the ‘Kingdom’ into a hit, Lenovo: a premium metal build and sensible pricing. Fingers crossed.
