Cameras are now a staple feature in most mobile devices today. In fact, Japanese tech distributor KingJim proves that it is so universal nowadays, you can even combine a webcam and a computer mouse into one convenient point-and-click package.
The Camera Mouse, as it is simply called, looks like your average wired computer mouse. Turn it upside down however, and it will reveal a sliding cover that shows the camera’s lens. Ever feel like taking a picture of your office during a busy day? Want to give someone a surprise snap while sitting at your desk? Simply hold it like a normal camera, slide the lens out, and click away. Because it’s already connected to your computer by default, you can send picture and video data directly to your PC. There is also an included custom software that lets you do simple editing options to trim and refine what you have taken.
Two megapixels may not sound much for the Camera Mouse, but the resolution is just about the same as an average webcam. Image files can be saved in either JPEG, BMP or PNG format, while video files can be saved in either WMV or AVI format. It will be available in Japan by the end of January at a price that is equivalent to $38.00
