Samsung pushes Galaxy Note 4 release further back in key global markets

The UK, Canada and Australia are all likely to get first Note 4 inventory a week or more after the United States.

It’s no secret Apple’s well-oiled marketing machine is often the key to record-breaking sales numbers posted year after year by iPhones and iPads. But equally as important, yet much less talked about, is Cupertino’s policy of commercially launching iDevices mere days on the heels of formal introductions.

Not only does that help strike while the iron is hot, but it sends a message to the public no one else is capable of. Not even Samsung. Just look at the Koreans’ struggle to get the Galaxy Note 4 out in the hands of consumers a full month and a half after the phablet’s unveil.

The Note 4 is clearly not as in-demand as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, yet Sammy barely rolled it out in its homeland, missing not one, but two deadlines in the UK. That’s right, British friends, things aren’t looking good for October 17 either, and Clove has already confirmed stock is delayed until next Friday, on the 24th.

We expect other retailers and carriers around those parts to come forward with similar announcements over the ensuing hours, especially as Samsung’s Canadian arm just disclosed its own ETA. And guess what, that’s also October 24.

To be fair, never did the Galaxy makers vow to release the Note 4 up north this week, although given US and Canada’s vicinity, a simultaneous bow seemed like a guarantee. Unless T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T decide to postpone themselves, which fortunately is a long shot. After all, T-Mo has jumped the gun and begun shipping orders to early buyers.

Meanwhile, Verizon always hinted at an October 24 rollout, and Australians have even bigger causes for concern, with their Note 4 release recently adjourned until November 5.

On the bright side, once you do get your grubby hands on the top-shelf 5.7 incher, you’ll score not just one of the best Android smartphones in the world, but also a slew of freebies. You can browse the entire list here, but remember to come back after purchasing the Note 4 and open your Galaxy Gifts.

None of them are pre-loaded on your device, so as not to complain of “bloatware”. Want our advice? Don’t miss out on the 2-year 50 GB ******* offer, free 6-month Pocket Premium subscription, 3-month OnLive access, 12-week NYTimes subscription, and complimentary Gameloft games. And in case you’re wondering, yes, we believe the combined value of these gifts is in the hundreds of bucks. Yes, hundreds. Plural.
