HTC and Google now taking pre-orders for the Nexus 9

Prices for the Tegra K1-powered tablet start at $399.

Less than a week after Google announced the Nexus 9, the search giant has started taking pre-orders for the first tablet that runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Play Store. Pre-orders are available from HTC as well, with orders set to start shipping from November 3rd, at least for those who buy it from the Taiwenese manufacturer’s website. The base model, which features 16GB of storage and Wi-Fi connectivity, has been priced at $399, a lot higher than both the original and 2013 Nexus 7.

The LTE model with 32GB storage will set prospective consumers back by $599, while the Wi-Fi-only 32GB variant costs $499, though this variant isn’t up for pre-order yet. As a refresher, the Nexus 9 features a 8.9-inch 2048×1536 IPS LCD display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, a 64-bit dual-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor clocked at 2.3GHz and accompanied by a 192-core Kepler GPU, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 6,700 mAh battery.
