ASRock motherboards break multiple OC benchmark records

Famed overclockers 8 Pack and John Lam have broken several benchmark records on ASRock’s Z97 OC Formula and X99 OC Formula respectively. John Lam broke Intel XTU scores for the CPU, while 8 Pack concentrated on GPU records with the newly released GeForce GTX 980.



John Lam of HKEPC OC combined Intel’s Haswell-E flagship, Core i7 5960X clocked at 5.8 GHz with the ASRock X99 OC Formula. The result – a stunning record-breaking score of 2950 marks on Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU).



Meanwhile, overclocker 8 Pack broke records on the GPU side, with a 3DMark05 score and 75123 and 57742* on 3DMark06 – both leading single-GPU scores. Combined with Core i7 4770K running at 6.5 GHz on ASRock Z97 OC Formula was GeForce GTX 980 clocked up to a blistering 1.9 GHz. Both CPU and GPU were cooled by LN2.

Moreover, ASRock intends to keep the overclocking action flowing with the the 9 Series OC Competition from October 20th to December 1st, with a cash prize of upto US$10,000.
