Microsoft to acquire Mojang, maker of 'Minecraft'

Microsoft is reportedly trying to buyout Mojang, developer of the popular multi-platform Minecraft video game.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a source familiar with the matter is reporting that the Redmond-based software giant is mulling the idea. Neither Microsoft or the Swedish game developer are confirming anything for the time being.

Minecraft, created by the now famed Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, is Mojang’s most popular release, and is available for multiple platforms. Since the game’s official release back in 2011, the community that drives Mojang’s growth continues to enjoy the indie block-buster—to the extent that Microsoft will have to fork out roughly $2 billion for studio.

The story is developing, so check back for an update!
