As rumors about its first smartwatch heat up, Apple posts a job opening for an expert on fitness products.
For a couple of years now we have been hearing that Apple is developing a wearable device of its own. The company’s first foray in this arena is expected to be with a smartwatch, widely known as the iWatch. Apple is yet to confirm its plans, but the rumor mill seems to be pretty much convinced that this smartwatch is on the cards for a 2014 release. There have been many rumors about the features its expected to tout, iWatch might be pretty big on fitness, if rumors turn out to be true.
Apple seeks “User Studies Exercise Physiologist,” the job entails 40 hour work weeks at Apple HQ in Santa Clara Valley, as well as the application of relevant knowledge to design of products and their testing/validation during user studies. Primarily the expert will be tasked with running and designing user studies which are related to cardiovascular fitness, energy expenditure, aerobic fitness level monitoring as well as tracking key physiological measurements such as metabolic rate and calories burned.
The reason why this job opening may be related to the iWatch is that it has already been rumored multiple times before that Apple’s first smartwatch will be fitness focused. Its believed to have a plethora of sensors that will pick up on various physiological measurements, which will then be beamed to a Healthbook app on iOS 8. Apple is expected to release iWatch to the public in the second half of 2014, so before then, we can’t expect the company to say much about it. Rumors are all one can depend on right now.
