Xbox One launch titles download sizes unveiled

Most Xbox One games will take up a large chunk of the system’s hard drive. *Were you expecting something else?

Remember the days when you can have a full shelf of PSX CDs and not have to worry about running out of hard drive space?* Those days are long gone, and (in most cases) these days’ games running on next-gen entertainment systems have all sorts of installation requirements.

In the next-gen Xbox One, which launches late next week, a single 500 hard drive is only capable of storing around 20 or so games at a time.* According to a user that got his hands on an Xbox One early, the size of an Xbox One title can range from anywhere between 200+ MB to 40+ GB, with ~30GB being the median.

(Installing and downloading this bugger will be more time consuming than going to the store and buying it, Forza 5 [31GB])[/caption]

Less graphically intensive games like Xbox Fitness (246MB) will take up a few hundred megabytes of space, while titles like NBA 2K14 (43GB) and Call of Duty: Ghosts (39GB) can leave some wondering if they’ll have to do some cleaning before they can play some other games.

Here are some Xbox One launch titles download sizes:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – 20GB

  • Battlefield 4 – 33GB

  • Call of Duty: Ghosts – 39GB
