G.SKILL demos DDR4 at 3333 MHz

At IDF 2014, G.SKILL has demoed 32GB of Ripjaws 4 DDR4 running at 3333 MHz, in a 4GB x 8 modules configuration. In addition, 8GB modules running at 3200 MHz were also showed, making up 32 GB with just 4 sticks. (Previously, 3200 MHz were restricted to 4GB modules.)

The demos were driven by Intel’s latest Core i7 5960X Haswell-E CPU, running on ASUS Rampage V Extreme X99 and X99-Deluxe motherboards. Interestingly, the faster 3333 MHz retained the same voltage (1.35V) and latencies (16-16-16-36) as 3200 MHz modules. However, more mainstream modules under 2800 MHz feature lower voltages at 1.2V – in line with the official DDR4 spec. The 3333 MHz modules benchmarked at a stunning 71.6 GB/s Read and 55.3 GB/s Write on AIDA64, which are some of – if not the – highest, scores we have seen with stock consumer RAM.

The new Ripjaws 4 flagships are starting to appear on e-tailers for pre-order, carrying a hefty premium to the tune of $700 for a 16GB 3333 MHz kit.
