Guerrilla Games’ Killzone: Shadow Fall bundles have been listed on Amazon France, making these the first PlayStation 4 bundles to be launched in European markets. *

It is not yet known whether these bundles will feature the launch day edition of the PlayStation 4, or just a standard PS4 console. More information should be forthcoming once the bundles are officially announced.

The first bundle includes a 500 GB PS4 console, one DualShock 4 controller and the Killzone: Shadow Fall game. This bundle costs $581 (€439,98). The second bundle throws in an additional DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation Camera, which is similar to Microsoft’s Kinect 2, and is available for $660 (€499,99).

The Shadow Fall PS4 bundle has been available for order in North America since the summer. The North American bundle has been confirmed to include the launch day edition of the PS4 console.

Godus beta launching September 13th

Peter Molyneux’s latest crowdfunding game, Godus, is entering beta on September 13th through Steam’s Early Access. Godus was first announced on Kickstarter and went on to make $750,000.

Peter Molyneux’s 22cans studio announced today that Godus will be available through Steam’s Early Access*program for $19.99. It will be available on both Windows and Mac. In an interview, Molyneux said, “I think Godus is going to be the best game I’ve ever worked on. Fable was an epic RPG, but I think the best, most obsessively designed game I’ve ever done is Godus. It’s the game I’ve played the most, for sure.”

In Godus, you play a god, and are tasked with guiding a civilisation from primitive origins to the Space Age. You will initially have abilities like sculpting the land, but as your followers grow, so will your powers. And as civilizations progress, their motivations also change, and the more advanced the civilization gets, the more they start questioning their beliefs in Gods.

The game also has a unique multiplayer mode. As you make progress through civilizations with your followers, other players will also be doing the same, and since all players are on the same world, there should be a lot of interesting battles scenarios. Here’s the beta trailer:

Godus will also make its way onto iOS on October 31st and Android on November 14th.

Twitter launches beta testing program on Android to test new features

Twitter has launched a beta testing program for its Android app on the Google Play Store, in order to let interested users test out new features before they go public.

Back at Google I/O, Google launched a new Play Store feature wherein app developers can test beta versions of their apps with new features through a select group of users, before introducing those features in the generally available builds. Facebook was one of the first major companies to opt for the beta testing route, and now Twitter is following suit.

The beta program is open for all, and once you join, the official build of the app will be replaced by the experimental version on your device. Any new features that Twitter wishes to test will be available as beta updates, and if everything checks out, these features will make their way to the stable build.

Interested? Well, here’s what to do to get in on the beta testing action. Join*this Google Group. Then, visit this link*and click “Become a Tester” to opt-in to the program. Once that’s done, hit the “Download Twitter from the Play Store” to update your app to the currently available beta version (if you get an error saying you already have the app installed, don’t worry, it simply means a beta isn’t available yet, but you will get the latest one as an update whenever it is available). Sounds simple? It should, because it is.

There is something to keep in mind though. Once you install the beta version, you’ll have to completely uninstall the beta build and re-install Twitter from the Play Store to go back to the stable release. Oh, and before doing that, you’ll also need to opt-out of the beta group using the “Leave the test” option,*from the same link where you opted-in.

Cooler Master unveils the HAF Stacker

Cooler Master unveiled the HAF Stacker today at PAX Prime 2013 in Seattle, WA. The Stacker is the first configurable modtower case, and is aimed at DIY enthusiasts.

The HAF Stacker is a case like no other. It features high levels of modularity, and allows users to create different configurations based on their needs. Cooler Master has combined the HAF line and the Stacker series into a single line, which means that users will get the storage and large interior space of the Stacker line with the extreme cooling features found in the HAF line.

Users can customize their HAF Stacker to fit most system needs, whether it is a watercooled workstation, server or an extreme gaming rig. Cooler Master used a rail system which allows users to attach and remove additional stacks easily, and once attached, the stacks do not move.

#gallery-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

The HAF Stacker comes in three different models. They include the ATX HAF 925 and the Mini-ITX HAF 915R and HAF 915F. A full-tower configuration can be achieved with a HAF Stacker 935 that consists of the HAF 925 along with a HAF 915R. Users will be able to buy the 915R, 915F and 925 individually to create more configurations.

The chassis will be available from the fourth quarter of 2013, and Cooler Master mentions that the price will vary by country.

NASA preparing to launch equipment to the moon to test laser based communication

Next week* NASA will be launching equipment for the Lunar Laser Communication Demonstration, via Orbital Science’s Minotaur V rocket. The equipment will be headed to the moon, so NASA can test two way laser communications between earth and space.

The LLCD is NASA’s chance to prove the validity and usefulness of laser communications, which have not heretofore experienced such a dramatic test.

NASA is turning to laser communication because, quite simply, the airwaves are overcrowded. With Wi-Fi signals, cell phone communication, and radio waves spilling energy all over the world, the radio and microwave portions of the electromagnetic spectrum are now being used almost to their full capacity.

By developing laser communications technology, NASA will buy itself some stretching space in a far less regulated and congested area of the spectrum. Furthermore, since laser wavelengths are 10,000x smaller than those used before, the new medium will be far more secure, and capable of sending much larger amounts of data

Laser communication tech will allow for 622 Mbps communication from earth to space which, besides being five times faster than current, state-of-the-art radio communications tech, is more than five times the speed of many in-home WiFi networks. What’s more, the laser technology will do it all at 25% less power.

NASA’s LLCD is being launched with the hopes of preparing the way for more advanced experiments down the road. High bandwidth communication between earth and space is an essential development to enable deep space industrial missions.

Deep Space Industries, for example, plans to mine asteroids for precious metals, and sees potential in the laser based communications to aid in their missions.

“It would be very useful for robotic space exploration that we’re planning, because when we attempt to tele-operate a device millions of miles away, we need to be able to see what it sees and to give it instructions,” David Gump, CEO of Deep Space Industries, told TechNewsWorld.

For the purposes of testing deep space laser communication, NASA hopes to use results from the LLCD to “advance it to a higher technology readiness level for its planned Laser Communications Relay Demonstration,” agency spokesperson David Steitz told TechNewsWorld.

This further test is planned for 2017, and will be launched for the purpose of testing laser communications in deep space.

While it’s not the same as putting a man on Mars, it is certain to say that NASA’s current projects are still paving the way for mankind’s exploration of the solar system, and beyond.
