Sega's Love Live! Image Girl Finals elections have a surprising winner

Sega finally has a new Love Live! image girl and she was recently announced by the*official Sega twitter page . So who is this winner? No, she’s not Kotori and she’s not Nico who both usualy top official Love Live! polls on a consistent basis, and no she’s not favorites Honoka or Maki either as the winner is a whole lot more unexpected than them. The surprising*winner of this official Love Live! poll is none other than*Rin Hoshizora, the series’ resident hyperactive tomboy.

Rin took first place over constant favorites Kotori, who took second place and Maki, who took third. Rin will now serve as Sega staff’s brand new image girl and will be featured in various illustrations and promotions.

Rin*actually came from behind and won the contest from out of nowhere. When the interim results were released, she*was not even in the top 3 as Kotori took first place halfway through the elections with Nico taking second and Maki taking third.

But Rin persevered and took first place, surprising a lot of people in the process. Congrats Rin-chan! Sega will definitely be in good hands with her as their image girl.

Cospa's official Majin Buu costume from Dragon Ball is a bit on the skinny side

With Dragon Ball Z Kai currently taking on the Majin Buu saga, Cospa is releasing a new cosplay costume set from the series and it aims to recreate Majin Buu himself and I must say, the costume is kinda cute and funny at the same time.

The costume is a 9-piece set whuch includes a cape, vest, spats, pumpkin pants, waist belt, gloves, boots, head and body covers, but even with all that, its a bit… skinny as compared to the plump and food-loving Buu.*It looks like its missing something… that belly Buu is known for.

Never the less, the costume really does seem cute and captures a bit of Majin Buu’s comedic side. It is scheduled for release mid-February 2015 and costs 14,040 yen total.

Well, looks like its time to develop a nice beer belly for this one.Don’t miss a single update from SGCafe! Follow us on Twitter:*@SGCafe You can also read more on Cosplay through this link

Love Live! badges become popular in the Central Asian country of Turkmenistan

Love Live! has become quite the global phenomenon as of late as fans from all over the world have shown their love for the series’ perky and lovable school idols. The anime has inspired people grovelling before the Love Live! trains in Shanghai , an all-Kotori cosplay session in Japan, and even some Love Live! buses in China (complete with people groveling of course). But who would think that the anime would even make its way to a*country like Turkmenistan?

A former Soviet*satellite state, Turkmenistan gained its independence back in 1991 after the dissolution*of the Soviet Union. The country is majority Islamic with a few Eastern Orthodox Christians. As it is a crossroads for many civilizations, the country has been invaded by foreigers like the Arabs, the Turks, the Mongols, and the Russians, however*this time, a new foreign presence seems to be a whole lot more welcome.

Japanese blogger *recently @ Kelog21 *posted images from the Central Asian country about some locals receiving some Love Live! merchandise and they seem to be loving them very much. And it ain’t just the kids who seem to love them a lot, but the adults too!

As opposed to its USSR days where the “Iron Curtain” prevented anything foreign, be it from America or Japan, or any other non-communist country, from entering Turkmenistan, these days have seen much change. And with the power of this new-fangled device known as the internet, I’m willing to bet that*there are also plenty of Love Livers in Turkmenistan dancing to the beat of μ’s songs like Snow Halation and Wonderful Rush.

Development of next major iOS 8 updates has begun

Apple has reportedly started working on iOS 8.1, iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.3.

It has merely been a fortnight since iOS 8 was finally released to the public. Apple demonstrated the new software at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2014 back in June and since then it has been in a lengthy beta stage which ended on September 17th. iOS 8 is available now for all supported devices and it is only a matter of time before subsequent major updates that bring new features are released.

So far Apple has only released two iOS 8 updates and both of them have been incremental aimed squarely at fixing bugs. iOS 8.0.1 was meant to fix the bug that kept HealthKit apps out of the App Store and instead it ended up bringing more bugs to the system. Apple quickly released iOS 8.0.2 to take care of that and now its the latest version of this new OS iteration.

Reports claim that Apple engineers are testing upcoming major updates such as iOS 8.1, iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.3 in Cupertino, California and adjoining areas. Some websites have also seen visits from iOS devices powered by these operating systems in their analytics which goes to show that testing really is being done by Apple albeit on a small scale.

So far the company has not revealed when the new updates will be released and exactly what they’ll bring to the table. Expected improvements include the ability to run two apps side-by-side on the iPad as well as overall improvements for the native Maps app in iOS. One of these updates may also bring the required compatibility settings for Apple Watch and Apple Pay both of which will be available early next year, the company unveiled both during its event on September 9th.

It cannot be said for sure right now when Apple is planning on releasing the updates so we will have to wait for official word on that.

Samsung SM-A300 leaks again with photos and specs in tow

The pictures and specs of Samsung’s lowest-end Galaxy A phone come courtesy of Chinese certification authority TENAA.

With Samsung’s Galaxy A lineup to help break the company away from its traditional habit of launching cheap-feeling plastic devices in every price segment of the market, the Korean manufacturer is probably not happy that all three of its upcoming A series phones are continuing to make appearances in leaks and rumors.

The SM-A300, or the Galaxy A3 as it is expected to be marketed as, is the humblest of the Galaxy A trio and recently had its specs leaked through a benchmark listing. Now, the A3 has once again reared its face and has popped up at*Chinese certification authority TENAA, accompanied by actual pics of the device and some its hardware details.

In terms of design, the device looks quite similar to the Galaxy A5, with a smaller size the sole differentiating factor. There have been*rumors that the A3 (and the other two Galaxy A handsets) will be made out of metal, though a recent leak about the Galaxy A5 suggested that Samsung might have opted for a different material, something that slots in between plastic and metal as a cheaper alternative for a premium feel.

Unfortunately, the TENAA listing doesn’t give Samsung’s choice of material away. What it does do is confirm some of the specs of the Galaxy A3, like the 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 and 5-megapixel rear and front cameras, 8GB of expandable internal storage, and a 4.5-inch display with qHD (540×960) resolution.

All of those make the Galaxy A3 decidedly low-end by today’s standards, though it remains to be seen if Samsung has the sense to price it competitively whenever it makes the handset available for sale to consumers (a Q3 announcement has been rumored before, but that is probably not going to happen.)

Samsung makes its first selfie champ official: meet the $250 Galaxy Grand Prime

Still a long way to go until matching the sheer lunacy of the 13 MP front camera-toting ZTE Nubia X6.

2014 seems to be a year of many firsts for Samsung, as the Android rulers recently came out with their first (semi-) metallic smartphone, the first side display-sporting handheld, first budget device with an AMOLED screen, first high-end AMOLED tablets, standalone smartwatch, rugged slate, fully rugged Galaxy S variant and largest Note*to date.

Oh, and while we’re on the subject, here’s Samsung’s first selfie-dedicated smartphone. The Galaxy Grand Prime may have nothing on self-portrait powerhouses from the likes of ZTE, Huawei or Meitu (who?), but its 5 MP front-facing snapper is still a first in the Galaxy.

And true, the Grand Prime is unlikely to remain Sammy’s sole selfie specialist for long, what with the half-metal/half-plastic Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 also tipped to accommodate 5 megapixel sensors on their faces.

Nevertheless, this bad boy’s unveil is a remarkable occurrence, and we’re going to treat it accordingly, Too bad once you get bored of duckfaces, there isn’t much to do with Grand 2 and Grand Neo’s heir.

Sure, you can play games, videos, run all sorts of apps and browse the web, but everything is bound to feel a little sluggish and look a tad hazy on the 5-inch 960 x 540 pix res display and with a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor covering the raw speed business.

Meanwhile, I guess the 2,600 mAh battery and 8 MP rear cam aren’t that bad, and the 1 gig of on-board RAM is pretty standard. As are the 8 GB of internal storage space for a device in this price range. Speaking of, the Galaxy Grand Prime has thus far only been spotted on the shipping manifest of a plane to India, where it’ll cost the rough equivalent of $250 (Rs. 15,499).

A fair price to pay? It depends on how attached you are of the Samsung brand, and how badly you need the crispest selfies, as Motorola, Asus, LG and several local brands offer better overall choices for comparable retail costs. Ultimately, the decision is all yours.
